The Center of Excellence for Workforce Development (COEFWD) is a
project that started more than 5 years ago as a result of
employer need to create a single point of contact among service
providers and to increase employment opportunities for persons
with disabilities. As a result of conversations with the Mayor’s
office and ten human service agencies, COEFWD was created to
promote diversity, to assist businesses in accessing the
untapped labor pool and to promote economic development in
Indiana. We enhance business results by connecting employers
with qualified candidates.
COEFWD and its partner employment service providers work with
businesses and organizations to:
- Pre-screen candidates
- Conduct job analysis
- Identify potential candidates for a
specific job (note: The business is under no obligation to hire a
candidate)
- Conduct individualized post-placement
support.
- Provide staff training on disability
awareness
COEFWD and its partner employment service providers work with
job seekers to:
- Assess/discover an individual’s needs,
skills and interests
- Develop a customized employment plan
(reflects individuals wants and interests)
- Facilitate resume development via web
site
- Identify jobs
- Negotiate with employers
- Assist with On-the-Job training
- Provide post-employment services to
facilitate long-term job retention.
COEFWD and its partners understand that people with disabilities are an under-utilized pool of job seekers. COEFWD and its partners are committed to working with job seekers and businesses to increase diversity and efficiently make successful job matches. This partnership reduces the cost of recruiting and enhances the success rate of job seekers.
